Welcome to Coogee Common. Restaurant, lounge bar and gardens.
Our seasonal and chef’s tasting menus are built around our own produce, harvested daily. What we can’t grow, grind or ferment, we source from local, sustainable producers, who share our commitment to clean, ethical food production. The bread on our table is from our wood-fired ovens, our seafood from local waters, and our menus designed to showcase the best local ingredients.
It’s what we do so well at Fremantle’s, Bread in Common, and we were ready to branch out.
We started looking for land where we could grow our own produce, our no-waste philosophy and commitment to a closed-loop farming system.
We saw the potential of the old Coogee Hotel site, the heritage buildings, and their grounds.
Over the past two years our team of gardeners have tirelessly rehabilitated the land, cultivating our terraced gardens. We rescued olive trees from Gingin, fig trees from Scarborough and Shiraz vines from Margaret River. The gardens, pollinated by our resident bees, will supply both Bread in Common, and Coogee Common, as well as our Common Farm Shop.
We built new kitchens and dining spaces, a small bar for those looking to share a plate and drink from our carefully chosen wine and tap-list, intimate dining rooms for groups of 8 to 14 experiencing our chef’s tasting menus, and larger spaces for up to 120 guests, with soaring ceilings and views of the gardens.
We’ve planted the seeds, and now we’re inviting you to watch us grow.
We devoted countless hours to reviving the abandoned site, building new gardens and kitchens, while preserving the character of this landmark location for generations to come. We’re adding a new chapter to a story that started long before we did, and we can’t wait to open our doors and gardens to the people of Fremantle.
